Och Aye Waipu

As usual at the weekends we took ourselves off for a beach walk this time the glorious stretch of Waipu Cove.

A long long time ago in a land far far away Waipu was founded by some Scotts settlers who were evicted from their homelands by the lairds, went off to Nova Scotia, got chucked out, went to Oz at Goldrush time, which was too rough for their Calvinist principles so they ended up here, creating a quiet east coast farming community...Mike met up with an auld couple, Archie & Heather McBrown and their wee bairn Gordon, they invited us to the Highland Games they hold every year on New Years Day!

Can someone please tell Nurse Diver that Waipu A&E might be less
stressfull than Stepping Hill !

Life's (not always) a Beach

Some blog readers have questioned weather we do any work here at all in New Zealand, as most of the pics seem to be of the beach.
So, just to appease our critics, here is a picture of Michael down at the building site hard at work as an Organiser for AWUNZ union.
Also, here's a photo of Michael delivering a speech to the Workers Party of New Zealand conference.

'The Four Noble Truths'

Today I went to see the Dalai Lama teach 'The Four Noble Truths' in Auckland...I left 5 hrs later feeling more educated about Buddhism and enlightened for spending time in his presence.
He is lovely, humourous and very intelligent and I would recommend you go and see him if you get the chance.
