Rangitoto Island

Today was a public holiday (ANZAC Day), so we decided to pay a visit to Auckland's youngest volcano, Rangitoto Island. Pohutakawa forests lined the track to the summit...

Beyond the light house... our house!

We spotted a great variety of flora and fauna along the way.

After a good few hours, we reached the crater rim and enjoyed the views of our city.

Our landords' family have been looking after her for a few weeks so she has been living in our back garden, we have taken her for some walks along the beach, she is a bit nuts. Today she got a new t-shirt and a cigar!

'RotoVegas' Easter

We spent the Easter Break on a spontaneous camping weekend to Rotorua with our mates John and Tanya & a few of their mates. We stayed just by the 'Blue Lake' it was gorgeous and warm in the day but we frooze our butts off the 1st night so all had to go out and buy thermals and extra blankets to sleep in. We survived 3 days/nights being intrepid in the outdoors and had a great time...

a few drinks after a great stir fry the 1st night...

we were all a bit cold...our mate John(English bloke lived here for years) is the guy who took us up the Harbour Bridge to see the fireworks.

While everyone else went off on an epic mountain bike ride I had a leisurely stroll through Whakarewarewa Forest - these are a few things I saw...

The famous NZ fern...

'could it be magic ?'

A very misty Bank Holiday Monday last breakfast on our camp...it did clear up to a sunny 25c later in the day.
